Businesses and professionals across Liverpool City Region are being challenged to complete 20 activities in 21 days to raise money for charity whilst celebrating the 20th anniversary of Professional Liverpool.

Representing Liverpool City Region’s professional community since 2001, Professional Liverpool is tasking participants to complete 20 activities in 21 days as part of its 20th anniversary celebrations, with all proceeds going to Everton in the Community, its chosen Charity of the Year for 2021.

From taking on sporting feats such as cycling 20 miles or running 20K over the 21 days, to light-hearted post-pandemic-themed challenges such as not mentioning the words ‘Coronavirus’ or ‘social distancing’ during conversation, those taking part are being called on think outside of the box and share their challenges over social media using the hashtag #PL20in21, with prizes being awarded for the most creative idea.

The campaign will draw to a close on 21 June to coincide with the anticipated final milestone on roadmap out of lockdown in England, and the date that marks the 20th anniversary of the organisation that represents the professional community in the city.

This will be the first major fundraising initiative since Professional Liverpool announced it was supporting Everton in the Community, one of the UK’s top sporting charities, which has been supporting the most vulnerable and underprivileged members of Merseyside since 1988 with its 40+ life-changing, and lifesaving, programmes since 1988.

Andrew Ruffler, Chief Executive of Professional Liverpool said: “This is a wonderful opportunity for us all to come together as lockdown is lifted and raise money for a charity which has a wide-reaching impact across Merseyside.

“Everton in the Community is an incredibly valuable charity with values that closely align with Professional Liverpool’s, so we are excited to be able to support them in their ongoing work and look forward to seeing people’s fundraising ideas.”

Carena Duffy, Fundraising Manager for Everton in the Community said: “This is an exciting and creative fundraising initiative to kick-off our Charity of the Year partnership. We are thrilled to be beneficiary of this innovative challenge and myself and the team can’t wait to take part and we urge everyone to sign up and get involved – to have fun and raise money for our life changing charity.”
