Sheetal Ohri, Author and Entrepreneur who believes in “Making a Difference” was given the NRI Institute “Pravasi Indians of the World Award 2023” for her achievements at the House of Lords at the British Parliament on March 8th 2023. The award was given by Lord Swarj Paul, who is an Indian born British business magnate and philanthropist in Britain. Sheetal Ohri presented her book “Custodial Battle” to Lord Swarj Paul and Lord Remy Ranger.
Sheetal Ohri has worked in London before moving to US and was recently here to receive the award and to hold her book launch and book reading High tea event at the Hilton Marble Arch in London which was attended by close friends, family and media. During the event she read her book excerpts from “Custodial Battle”, talked about her journey and answered questions by the guests on her book and her journey. Sheetal strongly advocated that the issue of cross country abandonment needs to be addressed by governments so that the NRI’s do not try and leave spouses and bereft them from their rights in living abroad or exercising their custodial rights in cases of Family law and children. Sheetal’s journey has been in various fields and workings. She started her career in the hospitality and travel industry in India and moved on to managing restaurants and hotels in London. Sheetal for the past 29 years has worked in top companies and name brand hotels and restaurant chains managing the departments of PR, Marketing and Sales, Operations and Facility and construction management.
Based out of San Francisco California, Sheetal In the last 14 years, has branded her own name as the CEO and founder of Sheetal Ohri Inc in San Francisco California. She and her Company has won many California State Legislative, California Senate awards for her work. She has worked with various companies and individuals from USA and India doing Media, branding, PR, consultancy work. Sheetal has had her own weekly radio talk show “Making a Difference with Sheetal Ohri” for the last 10 years. The radio talk show airs on San Francisco’s largest South Asian FM radio station Bolly923Fm. Sheetal is a Licensed California Real Estate Agent. She launched Silicon Valley Awards-SVA “Making a Difference” in 2012.
She launched, directed and produced the first Bollywood broadway show “Bollywood Dreamz- Journey of a Star” in 2013, using local talent. She has authored a book in 2021 “Custodial Battle” which has been a reflection of issues and challenges she faced while going through her own son’s custody situations due to Immigration status. She decided to write situations to help and provide resources to other immigrant parents in need of understanding the US family courts.
Sheetal Ohri is a US citizen, an author, a California Realtor, an Entrepreneur, Director of Facilities, remodel and development for America’s largest Restaurant Franchise chain, managing the California portfolio. Sheetal has her philanthropic side and volunteers her time with many local San Francisco Non profits devoting time for causes and encouraging Indian culture to mainstream America, children education and other local causes to bring a difference.
