A multi award-winning site manager has been promoted to the role of construction manager, overseeing four new housing developments in Derbyshire.

Dave Monk, who has won nine awards in eight years, works for Bellway’s East Midlands division based in Leicester.

The 49-year-old, who lives in Pinxton in Derbyshire, was named the best builder in the East of England for two years in a row.

Dave won the National House-Building Council’s (NHBC) East Regional Award in the Large Housebuilder category of the Pride in the Job Awards in 2018 and 2019 when he was site manager at Bellway’s Liberty development off Chalfont Drive in Nottingham.

“I am absolutely delighted and honoured to be given this position by Bellway,” he said. “I think my promotion is proof that you can achieve your goals and be promoted if you are prepared to put in the hard work at this company.

“I have been in the construction industry since the age of 16 when I joined my father’s housebuilding company and I love it. When I joined Bellway, I was already a site manager but with their support – and that of a fantastic team – I went on to win a number of awards. My career would not have been able to flourish as it has without the continuing and much-appreciated backing from the company.”

The married father-of-four said he is now in charge of the running of four sites in Derbyshire for the East Midlands division: at Bellway’s Coppice Heights in Ripley, Cuttle Brook in Chellaston and Mousley Park in Hilton, as well as at Cherry Meadow in Hatton under Bellway’s Ashberry Homes brand.

He said: “As a site manager my responsibility was to oversee the day-to-day running of the sites in all aspects of construction and sales and to ensure the quality of the finish on the houses. Now in my new role as construction manager, I will be overseeing the jobs being done by the site managers. So, I am now responsible for four sites instead of just one.”

Paul Coleman, Regional Director of Bellway East Midlands, said: “Dave’s promotion to construction manager is richly deserved as illustrated by his very impressive track record since he joined Bellway in 2013.

“The fact that he has won nine awards in the time he has been with us as site manager shows he is adept at leading a team. We are delighted to have been able to reward Dave for all his hard work and we know that he will use his skills to help the Bellway East Midlands division expand and exceed its targets.”
