Translink has announced additional late night services and widespread fare discounts for customers travelling on public transport during the festive season.

The Festive #Smartmovers travel package was welcomed by business bodies who have backed Translink’s efforts to encourage shoppers, partygoers and visitors to the city to use public transport with full details available online now at www.translink.co.uk/christmas.

Late night services on selected bus and train routes are back due to popular demand including additional Metro midnight and 1am services every Friday and Saturday until 21st December, with a special £2.50 single cash fare available. Late night trains will depart Belfast to Lisburn, Portadown, Bangor, Coleraine and Larne on Friday and Saturday nights from November 29 – December 21.

Keeping Belfast on the move, passengers in the city can enjoy £3 unlimited day travel after 9.30am or a £2.50 evening ticket after 6.30pm across the entire Metro and Glider network until 1st January 2020.

Announcing the package, Chris Conway, Translink Group Chief Executive, said:

“With Christmas just weeks away, this is a very busy time of year and we’ll be working hard to meet our customers’ festive travel requirements whether they’re making a journey home, shopping for gifts or catching up with family and friends.

“Our widespread service enhancements, late night services and fantastic choice of discount tickets will hopefully help cut the cost of Christmas, support local traders and offer hassle-free journeys over the festive season.”

Collection banks are located at Lanyon Place Train Station, Europa Bus Centre, Visit Belfast, Dundonald Park & Ride and Colin Connect until December 17th for anyone who wishes to donate.
