A new Ouseburn event will serve up a selection of the city’s best street food pop ups all summer-long.

Artisan Social is a new weekly event featuring a series of local street food pop ups, dishing up everything from Indian and Greek cuisine to vegan American diner style food, and fish and chips with a modern twist.

The event takes place 4pm until 8pm every Wednesday, launching on 3 July with popular Eastern-Mediterranean eatery Papa Ganoush and culminating on 28 August with five-time Battle of the Burger winners, Lola Jeans.

As well as street food, visitors can enjoy summer drinks from Artisan’s bar as well as late night shopping in The Biscuit Factory gallery.

Rachel Brown, general manager of The Biscuit Factory, says: “Artisan Social is something a little different for us. The concept has been designed to be a laid back, mid-week evening out over the summer.

“Away from the busy city centre, we’re walkable from the Metro and have plenty of free parking, so people can easily drop by after work, take the family out for a quick bite to eat or meet a bunch of pals for drinks. The gallery is open later too, giving visitors the chance to explore our exhibitions out of hours and visit our brand new bookshop with Forum Books.”

Lorna Wright, marketing and events at Lola Jeans, says: “We at Lola Jeans are beyond excited to get involved with The Biscuit Factory and their new Artisan Social! We’re honoured to be selected amongst some of the best North East restaurants to cater at the Artisan Social taking place every Wednesday this summer. Each vendor is specialised within a sector and we, of course, will be bringing our five-time award-winning burgers!

“We’re heading to Artisan Social on 28 August with our street style stall, our best award-winning burgers and our legendary sides, accompanied by great music and cocktails, all held within a fantastic venue. We can’t wait to see you there.”

Artisan Social forms part of The Biscuit Factory’s summer programme of botanical-themed art, workshops, and food and drink events inspired by the floral artworks of headline artist, Simon M Smith.
