North West energy and construction company Ecogee has recruited more than 30 people to its team as it continues to position itself to become one of the leading contractors in the installation of eco-friendly energy saving measures.
Due to a rise in its energy grant and decarbonisation division, the company has recorded an increased turnover of £9.5million, up from £6.7million twelve months ago, and hired additional contract managers, site supervisors, quantity surveyors and tradespersons to undertake the work, which is currently taking place right across the region.
Managing Director Brendan Helm said: “This is a huge accomplishment. Not only for us as a business, but as part of a conscious society. Our successes in terms of company growth and increased staff recruitment highlight that there is now a national drive towards reducing fuel costs and tackling our carbon footprint.
“For me personally, it is so rewarding to see these figures as I am very aware of the hard work that is happening behind the scenes, and they are a testament to the relationships that we have continued to build and grow over the years since we started back in 2013. We will continue to be advocates for sustainable energy with the hope that more and more people make that switch.”
One of the new starters welcomed to the team is Operations Manager Maria O’Connor, who has more than a decade of experience within both energy and construction led industries and will lead the delivery of all aspects of operations. This includes the business’ four main pillars – new builds, social housing, government eco grants and external wall insulation.
Alongside Maria, Ecogee has also employed three operatives from Thorn Cross Prison in Warrington, which it continues to build up a long-standing relationship with. One individual from the men’s open prison and young offender institution has recently become a full-time supervisor for the Aintree business, after completing a ten-month programme following their release.
Brendan added: “In our ten-year history, we have always prided ourselves on being a business with people at its core and we still have some staff here that started with us on day one. We think it’s extremely important to use people from our area for the projects that we deliver and we’re keen to promote local work and local employment in the Merseyside region and to give opportunities to all.
“We also believe everyone deserves a second chance, so we decided to link up with the prison in the hope of investing in people who truly need it. It’s brilliant that they can be involved in something as crucial as this and we will do whatever we can to help.”
Decarbonisation is the process of reducing carbon intensity, which means lowering or reducing the amount of CO2 being outputted into the atmosphere. In the last 12 months, Ecogee have been involved in several decarbonisation projects, and they still see the demand continue to grow as we move closer to our net zero target of 2040.
Their decarbonisation works include projects such as Fusion 21 the Government’s SHDF scheme with the Prima Group, the local authority delivery scheme along with ECO 4.
Ecogee was established back in 2012 in response to the launch of the Government energy efficiency programme, Energy Company Obligation (ECO), and have been priding themselves on using energy saving measures throughout their work ever since.
