Fintech sustainability start-up, ecolytiq, and financial innovation platform, b.yond, have been recognised by the prestigious Emerging Payment Awards [EPA] for the positive impact their partnership initiative will have on the banking and finance industry.
Established in March 2020, ecolytiq was inspired and co-founded by CPO, David Lais, after feeling stunned by the volume of plastic waste when visiting a beach in Thailand. With an extensive background in the finance and payments industry – including a focus on building better digital experiences with payment transaction data – David realised that personal payment data had the untapped potential to help consumers understand their individual impact on the environment and inspire a massive shift in consumption habits.
Developed by a team of six seasoned entrepreneurs, ecolytiq now enables banks, fintech companies and financial service providers to show their customers the individual impact their purchasing behaviour is having on the environment with its unique Sustainability-as-a-Service® solution. To encourage real change, ecolytiq also offers banking customers context and content around their individual calculations, as well as the ability to offset their footprints and invest sustainably.
Shortlisted for ‘Best Partnership Initiative’ with b.yond – a financial innovation platform that equips changemakers in the banking and finance industry with the tools they need to launch at speed – the EPA judges, despite a 50% increase in applications from over 30 countries, not only recognised how the fintech duo can equip new, challenger banks and financial institutions with the tools required to drive change, but also the real potential to standardise sustainability in the product offerings of newcomers to the financial services market.
David Lais, co-founder and CPO of ecolytiq, confirmed: “The ecolytiq team and I are delighted to have been shortlisted in the prestigious Emerging Payment Awards. Aside from the event being one of the most reputable on the payments industry calendar, it is great to be recognised for our partnership with b.yond and how we work together to use tech for good and set sustainability as standard in any new product offerings within the banking and finance industry.”
Neil Harris, co-founder of b.yond commented “Working with the team at ecolytiq has been a blast, powered by our joint belief that the financial services industry has a significant role to play in helping consumers be aware of the impact of their buying choices and the associated carbon footprint. We’re delighted to have partnered with ecolytiq to supercharge adoption of finvironmental wellbeing across our fintech customers. Being recognised by such a prestigious award at the Emerging Payments Awards is the icing on the cake.”
Now in its 14th year, the Emerging Payment Awards celebrate innovation and collaboration by recognising companies that have made significant advances in how consumers make payments today.
With over 90 finalists, the awards ceremony will take place on 6th October 2021 in London and is due to be attended by over 750 senior executives from across the payments value chain.
Headquartered in Berlin, Germany, ecolytiq is part of the Visa Fintech Partner Connect Program, which enables banks to seamlessly implement sustainability strategies using Visa payment data
