The Engineering Design Show

Engineering heroes who supported the development of life-saving ventilators during the pandemic will be celebrated at a major national conference in Coventry.

The Engineering Design Show will feature a dedicated area which champions the work engineers did on the vital Ventilator Challenge.

The ninth edition of the national show is being held at Coventry Building Society Arena on October 19 and 20, the venue which it launched at in 2012.

It is the UK’s only event entirely dedicated to engineering, electronics and embedded design – and is powered by Eureka, New Electronics and The Engineer.

Organisers expect 4,000 people to attend this year’s show, showing significant growing from the 1,331 who attended its debut event at the Arena nine years ago.

The show has seen more than 80 per cent of stand space already sold, with companies including Elmo Motion Control, Heidenhan, Robafoam, and Nanuk confirmed to exhibit.

Dick Elsy, CEO of Ventilator Challenge, will be joined by Paul Stein, Chief Technology Officer of Rolls-Royce Plc, as keynote speakers on ‘The Engineer Keynote Stage’ at the event.

They will be speaking as part of a conference running alongside the exhibition, which will feature a wide range of experts exploring best practice, new design techniques and industry issues.

The two-day event is sponsored by Wurth Electronik and Solid State Supplies.

Gordon Kirk, Engineering Design Show event director, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be able to hold a physical event in October focused on providing information and insight to the engineering design community. We very much look forward to once again facilitating engineers and designers to meet in person.

“After a torrid 18 months for the industry, the show will highlight the many challenges and opportunities in this sector.

“A major focus of the show will be to spotlight innovation, particularly among start-ups who are providing incredible service to the UK, including throughout the pandemic.”

The event will be run in accordance with Government guidance on COVID-19.
