Home Bargains has invested approximately £1 million in its new store in Nottingham, which will be officially opened at 8.00 am on Saturday 4th September 2021.

As one of the UK’s largest family-run retailers, Home Bargains is creating 60 new jobs in the local community with its store on Riverside Retail Park. In total, the store will employ 64 team members, including some staff and management who will be transferring from local stores.

It will also be donating £2,000 to local charity Nottingham Hospitals Charity. The charity’s current Baby MRI Appeal aims to raise £200,000 for equipment to make MRI scans as quick, safe and comfortable as possible for the tiniest patients in Nottingham’s two neonatal units. The appeal will fund new equipment and technology, including special head coils to fit into babies’ incubators, making scanning images clearer and aiding diagnosis, and software to cut scanning time from 30 to 15 minutes.

Marianne Burchell, Corporate Fundraising Manager at Nottingham Hospitals Charity, said: “We are delighted that staff at the new Home Bargains store in Riverside have chosen to support our Baby MRI Appeal. It is so touching that staff at a local store have chosen to support patients and families right here in Nottingham. This donation will help us make a real difference to our very smallest patients and their families at a difficult time in their lives, and help neonatal babies in Nottingham receive the best possible care”.

The new Nottingham store will join over 500 outlets across the UK. Opening approximately 50 stores a year, Home Bargains is bucking current trends in the industry.

Shaun Hagues, the new Nottingham store manager, said: “I started my Home Bargains journey 11 years ago in Derby as an Assistant Manager, but since then have held the title of Store Manager at both our Loughborough and Alfreton sites.

“It’s a huge honour to be opening our new Nottingham store this weekend alongside such a fantastic team, and something that I’m exceptionally proud of.”

The 18,417 sq ft store, which formerly housed Toys R Us, will offer shoppers a range of products, including homewares, health and beauty essentials, sweets, snacks and drinks, as well as fresh and frozen food.

Shaun added: “Riverside Retail Park will be a great location for us and we’re proud to be able to offer local people top-branded goods at exceptionally low prices.”

With more than five million customers each week, Home Bargains is one of the country’s best-loved discount retailers, stocking top-quality branded goods at low prices.
