Home Bargains has invested approximately £1 million in its new store in Milton Keynes, which will be officially opened at 8.00am on Saturday 29th January 2022.

As one of the UK’s largest family-run retailers, Home Bargains is creating 65 new jobs in the local community with its store in The Kingston Centre. In total, the store will employ 75 team members, including some staff and management who will be transferring from other local stores.

The retailer will also be donating £2,000 to local charity, Emily’s Star.  The charity supports children with complex and life-threatening illnesses through memory making, monthly support sessions and family activities.

Darcy Scott-Hindmarch, Wish Referral Co-ordiantor at Emily’s Star, said: “Receiving this donation means so much to us. Charities such as ours have been hit hard by the pandemic, so this means that we can continue to make precious memories for children with life-limiting illness.”

The new Milton Keynes store will join over 575 Home Bargains outlets across the UK. Opening approximately 50 stores a year, Home Bargains is bucking current trends in the industry.

Katie Wilson, the new Milton Keynes store manager, said: “I started my Home Bargains journey in October 2012 in Litherland, Liverpool. I relocated to Milton Keynes six years ago and have recently been running the Beacon Retail Park store in Bletchley. I’m excited to be bringing my years of experience at Home Bargains to the new Kingston Centre store.

“There’s nothing quite like the buzz of opening a new store.  A lot of hard work and dedication has gone into the new site, and I can’t wait to open its doors this weekend alongside such a fantastic team. I am exceptionally proud of everyone.”

The 17,168 sq. ft store, which formerly housed Mamas & Papas and Marks & Spencer, will offer shoppers a range of products, including homewares, health and beauty essentials, sweets, snacks and drinks, as well as fresh and frozen food.

Wilson added: “The Kingston Centre will be a great location for us, and we’re proud to be able to offer local people top-branded goods at exceptionally low prices.”

With more than five million customers each week, Home Bargains is one of the country’s best-loved discount retailers, stocking top-quality branded goods at low prices.
