Sophia Major, Founder of IGOLO said “Homeowners, renovators & building professionals find it difficult to source authentically sustainable products amongst a sea of greenwashing and complex product information. IGOLO creates a community of like-minded brands and services that share a common goal – to truly achieve sustainable home design.”

Founded by experienced architectural designer Sophia Major, IGOLO aims to become the #1 sustainability tool for homeowners, renovators and building professionals across the UK.

Throughout her work as an architectural designer, Sophia discovered that sustainability was the least prioritised factor when designing or renovating homes, with individuals often struggling to source sustainable materials.

Through her own time as a designer, Sophia quickly realised just how many barriers stood in the way from the UK achieving the sustainable future that society needs. From a lack of products and services, to the lack of digestible information on sustainability provided by companies, and the overall slow growth of the sector, it became clear that a new approach was needed.

With so much industry jargon it can be hard to know for sure which companies are truly sustainable. Researching this can be very time intensive and combined with a relatively limited availability of  truly sustainable products, there remains a massive entry barrier for people looking to switch to sustainable services and materials.

Understanding the need for urgent change, Sophia founded IGOLO with the aim of collating and sharing the highest quality and most sustainable brands the UK has to offer, into a single platform and community.

This is how IGOLO aims to become the #1 sustainability tool for homeowners, renovators and building professionals across the UK. Each brand, product, or service listed on IGOLO has been rigorously assessed to ensure it meets the top standards in social, environmental, and health practices. Everything, all in one place, verified and checked by industry professionals so users can trust what they see on the platform.

In 2018 leading climate scientists warned that there are only 12 years left before global warming causes irreversible damage to the environment. With the UK’s recent heatwave in 2022 being far more intense and widespread than those of the past, and with only eight years left now, we need to deliver solutions at pace.

IGOLO is the tool that will allow the industry to fight global warming, becoming a vital element in the push for sustainability and helping customers to navigate the complex world of sustainable home renovation and design.
