Leading aesthetics academy Facethetics Training is looking ahead to the new year after noticing a 300% year-on-year increase in training bookings from new delegates.
The business, established seven years ago in Aigburth, has quickly become one of the UK’s leading training providers, delivering high quality training courses to Doctors, Dentists, Nurses, Physiotherapists, Paramedics, Pharmacists and other healthcare professionals on application.
Heavily hit by the pandemic over the past two years, Facethetics Training – headed by Co-Directors, Course Coordinator Alison Stananought and Lead Educator Yvonne Senior – had no choice but to completely shut down the business, being left with huge uncertainty when it came to the future of the brand.
Alison said: “It was a very scary time – not just for us – but for the aesthetics industry as a whole. Rather than just close and wait it out, we decided to do whatever we could to support our delegates. We also started planning ahead, thinking about the future of Facethetics and how we could return bigger and better, offering our delegates even more when training started up again. Fast forward to now and things certainly look to be heading in the right direction – the minute we started to promote our courses for 2022, we saw a real surge in bookings.
“Every year we see lots of people wanting to start the new year with a career change but there is definitely a noticeable shift.”
During the pandemic, the team invested in all elements of the business; this included providing mental health support for staff, creating a new e-learning platform to deliver digital educational content, and launching an online members area full of resources such as mental health workbooks, business continuity advice and return to practice support. They also developed a number of online training modules, allowing delegates to continue advancing their skills and knowledge, even when they couldn’t attend in-person training.
Yvonne added: “For us, training doesn’t just start when the course begins and end when delegates are certified. It’s about supporting their journey and making sure that they know how to use their new skills in the industry. We’ve worked hard to make sure individuals get what they need from us and to guide them every step of the way.”
The aesthetics industry has been in the spotlight this week after a recent parliamentary vote rejected the protection of the title ‘nurse’, meaning anyone can call themselves a nurse without being qualified. Currently only the title ‘Registered Nurse’ is protected in legislation, allowing unqualified personnel from any background, including qualified Beauty Therapists, to call themselves an ‘Aesthetic Nurse’ and misleadingly providing treatments considered by the CQC as minor surgical procedures without fear of impunity.
Yvonne, who has worked alongside the Joint Council for Cosmetic Practitioners (JCCP), said: “The irony is that contrary to this, healthcare professionals who perform these procedures such as PDO threads have to jump through hoops and be registered with the CQC. The CQC does ‘not regulate’ non-healthcare professionals as it is outside their remit, leaving the non-healthcare professionals to perform these treatments without consequence.”
Facethetics’ new courses include a 2 Day Foundation Botox and Dermal Filler course, as well as a 3 Day Foundation course that incorporates lip enhancement. These courses are supported by extensive pre-course e-learning plus hands-on practical training on live models.
In addition to their various Foundation courses, Facethetics also offer a range of advanced Botox and Filler courses together with PRP, Microsclerotherapy and Skin for those looking to advance their skillset.
