A philanthropic Liverpool company has given away an incredible £50,000 to charities across the North West this Christmas.

DAM Health has handed out financial support to different charities including Manchester-based charities The Albert Kennedy Trust and Destination Florida after recommendations from football legend Gary Neville.

The government-approved coronavirus testing company met up with Destination Florida and Manchester United legend Neville on Thursday to hand over a £10,000 cheque.

The charity provides holidays of a lifetime for children with life-threatening illnesses.

The private health care business has also donated to Liverpool’s L6 centre which operates as a food bank and community group for people and families affected by poverty.

Meanwhile, DAM Health has given support to The Albert Kennedy Trust. The charity was established in Manchester to help homeless LGBTQ+ young people. It has also donated to the NSPCC’s Christmas appeal and Redbridge Carers’ Support Service.

Gary Neville said: “Destination Florida does some amazing work and so I had no hesitation in recommending them for this Christmas donation. It will go a long way to helping them continue to make dreams come true for seriously ill children. All of these charities are deserving. It is a very kind gesture by DAM Health.”

Cllr Gerard Woodhouse, CEO of Liverpool’s L6 Centre, said: “This is a wonderful gesture by DAM Health and has come at a time when our services are in huge demand.

“So many families are facing desperate situations right now and the generosity shown by this company and others across Liverpool will allow us to provide more food and some toys for people who otherwise would have nothing on Christmas day.”

Liam Spence, director of partnerships at DAM Health, said: “Everyone at DAM Health wanted to give back to deserving charities this Christmas and every beneficiary of the donations has been recommended to us by people like Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher and local community leaders.

“I was proud this year that we were also able to extensively support Football For Change and help young people living in deprived communities in the North West while also committing to extending our charitable work in India by providing vital air-conditioning equipment plus Covid-safe protective kits to help global fight against Covid-19.”
