London’s leading recycling company, First Mile, launches fresh fruit and veg box deliveries

London’s leading recycling company, First Mile, is pleased to announce the launch of its new fruit and veg box delivery service, offering a selection of sustainable fresh British produce with free delivery within London Zones 1-5.

First Mile’s fruit and veg boxes can be ordered at shop.thefirstmile.co.uk, with prices starting at £21.50. Each box is packed with fresh and seasonal British fruit and vegetables, with eggs and bread also available.

All deliveries are made in First Mile’s ultra-low-emission vehicles, with near-to-zero packaging. Any packaging from previous orders can be given back to First Mile for reuse or recycling. The whole process follows government advice and social distancing guidelines.

First Mile founder and CEO, Bruce Bratley, comments: “We had so many people telling us how tricky they were finding it to get hold of fresh produce during lockdown, so we decided to launch our own green fruit and veg boxes.

“It’s great to be able to utilise our green fleet in a sustainable way that supports British farmers and gets super-fresh produce straight to Londoners’ doorsteps. And, of course, as a recycling company, we’re happy to recycle any packaging!”

First Mile’s fruit and veg box delivery service is the latest in a series of services and support being offered by the business. The company is still providing waste and recycling services to those critical businesses still operating in London, but has, over the past few weeks, converted some of its fleet to provide delivery support to small businesses, charities and social initiatives.
