Residents at Barratt Homes’ Overstone Gate development, alongside Overstone Anglican Church and The Methodist Church, came together to donate food items to local foodbanks in Northamptonshire.

In the run up to the New Year, the leading homebuilder encouraged residents to donate any non-perishable items including cereal, soup, rice, tinned fruits and vegetables, biscuits, and tea and coffee, to a collection box at the development’s marketing suite.

Each week, the donations were then delivered to Re Store Northampton and Daylight Centre Food Bank, both located less than seven miles away from the development and helped to provide people in proven need with food and other essential items.

Melvina Brown, Community Chaplain with the Methodist Church, said: “The ‘Overstone Giving Together’ project was an opportunity for residents to do something for others together. It was wonderful to see kindness and compassion being displayed by the Overstone Gate community.”

Jason Hearn, Sales Director at Barratt Homes South Midlands, said: “It’s important to us to support the local communities, and we’re really proud of the residents at Overstone Gate for their kind donations.

“In what continues to be a difficult period for the whole country, these generous donations will really help the local foodbanks continue to support those in need with food and other essentials.”

Overstone Gate is a new community of three and four bedroom homes located on Overstone Farm. The new development will benefit from a brand new school and amenities on site.
