The 1:1 Diet by Cambridge Weight Plan marked its successes as a business with a virtual celebration in recognition of this year’s Employee Ownership Day (Friday, June 26).
The Corby-based company is the current recipient of the coveted national Employee Owned Business of the Year award, which recognises dedication and commitment to empowering employees.
EO Day is an annual event for employee-owned businesses. This year’s theme was EO is the Answer, with a focus on employee resilience.
The 1:1 Diet was keen to mark the day, even during these unprecedented times.
The celebrations were held virtually for the first time because of the pandemic and watched by the business’s 244 employee stakeholders.
The 1:1 Diet’s Managing Director, Chris McDermott, reflected on the achievements of the last year, including how the company has adapted its business model to the current landscape and created a roadmap for the coming months.
He said: “EO Day 2020 couldn’t have come at a more appropriate time this year as our company begins to rebound from the COVID-19 crisis. The challenges we have faced in the last 100 days have been the true test of employee ownership.
“Without our Employee Stakeholders rising to the occasion in every function across the business, coming on site day-after-day to keep the machines working, or working from home in ways they never thought possible just a few short months ago, we wouldn’t have been in the position we are now.
“I fully expect future generations of people in this company to pinpoint these extraordinary months as the definitive moment that employee ownership proved its worth. Being the EOA’s current Business of the Year would have meant nothing if we couldn’t come together like we have done to keep the business going.
“It has been an honour and a privilege to have been part of the 1:1 Diet by Cambridge Weight Plan while we have gone through these extraordinary events together. Now, collectively we must strive to make our business grow and prosper once again.”
