Hereford-based Stok.ly, a software platform that supports high volume eCommerce sales, order processing and automated warehouse fulfilment, is working in collaboration with The Development Manager (TDM). Together they offer young people a chance to gain valuable hands-on experience in the growing and competitive tech sector.
Through the apprenticeship scheme, Stok.ly is able to invest in young people and give them the opportunity to familiarise themselves with a commercial environment whilst developing their technical skills. Since forming in 2015, Stok.ly has been offering apprenticeship schemes through TDM and currently has five apprentices working with them, supporting software testing, account management, website maintenance and a host of other activities.
Iain Coplans, founder of Stok.ly, said: Apprentices add a huge amount of value to our business. The first apprentice we took on is still with us almost 8 years on and has played a critical role in writing aspects of Stok.ly’s code. As they take on new apprentices, the end goal is always to employ them following a successful period. As a result, the scheme enables Stok.ly to acquire talented individuals who are all passionate about software and hardware. Nathan, an apprentice at Stok.ly, joined in July 2020 with ambitions of a career within software penetration testing.
Nathan Thomas Rouse, an apprentice at Stok.ly said: “When making the decision between University and an apprenticeship scheme, it became clear to me that the hands-on and practical approach offered by Stok.ly was much more in line with how I learn and my career aspirations”.
Stok.ly offers all of its apprentices a structured development framework that nurtures their interests and encourages them to develop skills in other areas of the business.
