When we talk about aesthetics, our minds quickly go to botox, body contouring and the ever popular treatment of lip fillers.

These treatments are often undertaken for aesthetic reasons, because we believe that they’ll make us look better. But Rachel Woodington, founder of Yorkshire based Aesthetic company Minks Rejuvenation, wants to talk about the ever growing popularity of one treatment that is not done for aesthetic reasons at all.

This treatment is Vaginal Rejuvenation.

At first listen, most people recoil in confusion and ask, why would you do that? Who wants an aesthetic treatment down there?

But this treatment can act as a saving grace for many women who struggle with vaginal conditions such as urinary incontinence, menopause, and post birth trauma.

Rachel believes that the stigma surrounding vaginal rejuvenation can be extremely damaging to those women who are in need of professional help.

She said, “ The issues that these women are suffering with are a very sensitive subject and not something to be taken lightly. Vaginal rejuvenation is not just an aesthetic treatment but a whole change of life for the women that we work with.”

As this topic is thought by many to be a taboo subject, misinformation is often shared and in the past, Vaginal Rejuvenation has been advertised as a treatment for a ‘better sex life’, but Rachel wants to show that this is not it’s purpose.

Some of the common factors that interfere with a woman’s quality of life and can be helped by this treatment are urinary incontinence, vaginal laxity, and loss of vaginal lubrication

She said, “When I see clients who wish to undertake this treatment, sex is the last thing on their mind. Both post childbirth and menopause are still very taboo subjects today, which should not be the case, we should be able to understand the processes of both and what we can do to deal with the changes that they have made to our bodies, these are often changes  that we weren’t ever expecting, and this is because it’s never spoken about.”

Rachel’s mission with her company, Minks Rejuvenation, is to open up the conversation around these topics so that women who struggle can be assured that they are not alone and that there are treatments available to help them.

The Vaginal Rejuvenation treatment is painless, and results which are often instant can last for several years.

With 18 years of experience within the NHS, Rachel juggles her clinic alongside her work as an advanced nurse practitioner and matron.

During her time within the health industry she has seen first hand how keeping quiet on important issues such as this can be extremely detrimental to women’s health.

She said, “There should be no stigma to female health and wellbeing. We should be free from judgement to embrace who we are and change what we want, solely for our own benefit.”
