UK businesses can now offset 130% of the cost required to create a COVID-secure workplace thanks to HMRC adding active air purification technology to its Capital Tax Allowance list.
Using no chemicals or harmful substances and requiring virtually no energy, active air purification technology works by replicating Earth’s natural air cleaning processes indoors. It does this by producing and maintaining minute equilibrium concentrations of hydroperoxide molecules throughout the indoor air space.
When these active molecules encounter microbials, they break them down and destroy them and then revert to harmless water vapour and oxygen. The technology produces 1 quadrillion hydroperoxide molecules every second, quickly killing any airborne virus or bacteria, including COVID-19.
This news comes as the ventilation advice in workplaces, schools and other indoor areas continues to evolve and both public and private sector organisations increase investment in air purification solutions – as demonstrated by the Welsh Government, which is pledging £6 million for air technologies in schools, specifically carbon dioxide sensors and ozone disinfection machines.
Andrew Hobbs, HVAC and active air purification specialist and Founder of Better Indoors, explained: “This is a great opportunity for UK businesses to invest in creating safe and healthy indoor environments for staff and customers and get the full value of that investment offset against future profit. Our PHI and REME solutions designed for standalone or in-duct retrofit kill viruses instantly at the point of emission in the air or on surfaces, creating extra protections that are not possible with ventilation air change increases, filtration or UV systems alone. We applaud HM Government and HMRC for enabling this change which will pave the way for improved health, wellbeing and productivity.”
Headquartered in Surrey, Better Indoors, is the sole UK distributor of RGF Environmental Group, manufacturers of innovative active air purification technology that instantly eliminates harmful viruses and bacteria, including SARS-CoV-2 at the point of transmission.
Originally invented in the late 1990s, the RGF PHI and REME active air purification technologies have been thoroughly verified for safety and efficacy by nationally accredited independent labs and testing bodies in the US and by other Governments – and are proven to inactive of a wide range of highly infectious viruses and bacteria including COVID-19, SARS, H1N1 or ‘Swine Flu’, Norovirus, MRSA, Bird Flu just to name a few.
Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, Better Indoors has installed active air purification solutions into commercial buildings across the UK, including the iconic 55,000 sqm Lime Street offices of renowned insurance and reinsurance market, Lloyds of London.
