Andy Sharpe

Wigan’s Andy Sharpe has received a prestigious National House Building Council (NHBC) Pride in the Job award.  It is Andy’s first Pride in the Job award.

Andy has worked for Bellway North West for over seven years, joining the company as assistant site manager and progressing to site manager, and has previously won Local Authority as well as Health & Safety awards.

Based at Bellway’s Rainbow Fields development on Waddicar Lane in Melling, Andy is extremely pleased to win this prestigious industry award, which was presented to him for superb management on site.

He says: “I am thrilled to win my first my Pride in the Job award.  I have tried previously in the past but not quite managed to win it, so time and experience has now paid off.  It has always been an ambition of mine to win this award as its so sought-after in the industry – it’s a great feeling to finally do so!”

The NHBC Pride in the Job award, which has been established for over 40 years, recognises and rewards the industry’s very best performers and is an accolade that site managers aspire to achieve.

To receive an award, site managers must score highly in all areas of build and site management including quality of workmanship, technical expertise, health and safety and leadership.  Judges are looking for meticulous attention to detail and the special qualities and attributes that set quality award winning site managers apart from the rest.

Andy continues: “It’s been a challenging 18 months for the industry with site managers having to adhere to Covid restrictions, manage shortages of materials and trades, maintain staff safety as well as have foresight to continue to meet build schedules.  With the support of my team on site, we navigated our way through and Rainbow Fields is now a stunning development of new build homes surrounded by landscaped grounds with plenty of wildlife.”

Construction director at Bellway North West, Ian Hopkins, adds: “Andy consistently works hard and we are so proud he has won his first Pride in the Job award.  He has done an incredible job at Rainbow Fields and this award is testament to his experience, high standards and leadership.”
