One of the North of England’s largest independently owned and family run home care providers, Alcedo Care Group, has opened a new office on Market Place in Kendal.

Representing a £225,000 investment for the fast growing home care provider, Kendal is the company’s first branch on a traditional high street, and also its first in Cumbria creating approximately 80 local jobs.

Covering all areas of South Lakes and beyond, the new team in Kendal will deliver Alcedo Care Group’s exceptional portfolio of award winning home care services including personal care, nursing, nurse-led complex care and support and companionship to those wishing to remain independent in their own homes.

The company will also offer live-in care; a service which has seen a huge increase in demand from rural and semi-rural areas since the Covid pandemic.

Managing director of Alcedo Care Group, Andy Boardman, explains: “We are thrilled to open our first office in Cumbria and look forward to becoming part of the wonderful community in Kendal.  Already well established across the North of England, we had received many enquiries from people in Cumbria looking for high quality home care services and delighted to respond with the opening of this dedicated new branch to serve South Lakes.

“The Kendal opening is a milestone for us as it is our first branch on a high street, with the idea being that customers can walk in informally while out shopping to discuss our care packages face-to-face over a coffee or cup of tea.  Care is so very personal, and our ethos is all about quality delivered by our team of amazing carers.

“Historically underserved for top quality home care, we are already making plans to expand further across Cumbria.”

Councillor Doug Rathbone, local Mayor for Kendal, attended the opening event, cutting a red ribbon with Andy Boardman and the Alcedo Care team in Kendal to declare the branch officially open.

He said: “It’s wonderful to be here today at the opening of Alcedo Care Group’s new office in Kendal, to meet the team and understand more about the fantastic range of home care services that they will be delivering across our local area.  I am confident that their services will be in high demand and wish them all the very best.”

Alcedo Care is already looking to grow the new office in Kendal and will recruit a further 10 carers per month with the aim of delivering well over 1,000 weekly care hours in the area over the next 12 months.

Vickie Leecy has been appointed registered manager and service development manager of the new office in Kendal, supported by Bill Craig as deputy manager, Tina Gosling as care assessor and supervisor and Rosie Caunt as area manager.

The opening of the Kendal office brings the total number of Alcedo Care offices in the North West to 15 and complements the company’s existing bases in Blackburn & Darwen, Blackpool & Fylde, Bury, Chester, Fulwood, Holywell, Lancaster & Wyre, Liverpool, Preston, Southport, Speke, St Helens, Wigan and Wirral.

Recently rated one of the Top 20 home care groups for the third year running, Alcedo Care offers Domiciliary Care Services, Live-in Care, Nurse-Led Complex Care Services, Supported Living and Children’s Services and has fast gained an enviable reputation as the home care provider of choice in the North West thanks to its superb 1,000-strong team of highly skilled and compassionate carers who make a tangible difference to the quality of life of the company’s home care clients.
