B&DWEC - Ella won a £30 book voucher as a prize for winning the site safety poster competition

To help educate the dangers of children playing on building sites, David Wilson Homes invited Norfolk school pupils to take part in a site safety poster competition.

Ella Green, aged 10, from Horsford Primary School was crowned the winner for her artistic attempt to discourage her peers from using building sites as a playground or a place to explore.

Ella designed her poster to include warnings about playing inside properties during construction and yellow and black tape to ward off any children wanting to play on site – something which David Wilson Homes discourages at its nearby Kingfisher Meadow development on Holt Road.

Tanya Kirton, Head of School at Horsford Primary School, said: “Our children really enjoyed engaging with the interactive site safety experience provided by David Wilson Homes and used the knowledge they gained from it to design their own building site safety posters. With an array of new homes being built in the area, it is important that our children know how to stay safe around the construction areas.”

Ella received a £30 book token for winning the competition and displaying great knowledge of the dangers of building sites.

Annette Hurst, Sales Director at David Wilson Homes Eastern Counties, said:

“We’d like to thank Ella for helping us to show how our construction site at Kingfisher Meadow is for building homes for residents and not for children to play in.

“As a leading developer, safety is our upmost priority and we have a responsibility to ensure that school pupils recognise the dangers of unsupervised exploring where heavy machinery and materials are located.”

Kingfisher Meadow currently has a selection of three and four bedroom homes available for a range of house hunters.
