The Motiv8 teams from its locations across the South coast.

Motiv8 South, a youth charity working with vulnerable young people and their families across Portsmouth, Gosport, Fareham, and Havant has been awarded with the We invest in people, Platinum accreditation by Investors in People (IIP).

Platinum is the highest level of accreditation possible to achieve on the We invest in people accreditation.

With a score well above those for both Investors in People accredited organisations and others in the sector, achieving Platinum places Motiv8 in the top 5% nationally, up from 28% at the last assessment, and number 6 in the industry group ‘Social Work Activities with between 50-249 employees’.

It means policies and practices around supporting people are embedded in every corner of Motiv8.

In a platinum company, everyone – from the CEO to a Student Support Worker – knows they have a part to play in the company doing well, and is always looking for ways to improve.

Motiv8 has faced several challenges throughout the last year, with the level of needs of the young people Motiv8 supports going up by 48% over the last year and lack of funding that enables the charity to carry out the quality of services for which it is renowned.

Despite this, they continue to work hard to continue providing a safe, warm and welcoming space for vulnerable young people, as well as supporting their families.

The IIP Platinum accreditation demonstrates a true culture of trust and communication as well as commitment to continuous improvement in every part of the charity.

Paul Devoy, CEO of Investors in People, said: ‘We’d like to congratulate Motiv8 South. Platinum accreditation on We invest in people is a remarkable effort for any organisation, and places Motiv8 in fine company with a host of organisations that understand the value of people.’

Clare Ansell, CEO of Motiv8 said: ‘As a team and charity, we are absolutely delighted to have been recognised with this prestigious award. We all recognise that investing in our people is absolutely the right thing to do, but more importantly we know valued, motivated and supported employees help us to deliver the best possible service for young people, their families and the community.

‘It is a tough operating environment right now, so to have achieved Platinum really is an amazing achievement and testament to the incredible workforce and culture at Motiv8.’

Commenting on their careers at Motiv8, some of the comments from the team were:

‘This is the best job I’ve had for its culture and ethos.  It feels like a family.  I wish I’d joined sooner.’

‘The work here is too rewarding to give it up. A massive ‘yes’ – it’s a great place to work.’

Investors in People believes that the success of an organisation begins and ends with people.

If we make work better for everyone, we make work better for every organisation. And if we do that, we make society stronger, healthier and happier.
