The entire Tutor Doctor team has cause for celebration this month after the brand was shortlisted in a prestigious national awards programme. The global tutoring franchise has been named as a finalist in the National Tutoring Awards 2024 run by The Tutors’ Association.

“We’ve been shortlisted in the category, Best Tuition Delivery to Schools,” explains brand Marketing Manager, Michelle Morris. “We’re so proud of our network! Being recognised for our work in schools is gratifying for so many reasons, not least because the students we are able to reach through this pathway would likely fall through the cracks in the education system if not for our franchisees. This really is a win-win for all parties and we’re delighted to be in the running for this award.”

The shortlisting is particularly significant for the franchisor as it showcases the quality and impact of Tutor Doctor’s most recent innovation, a new Schools Delivery Programme. After two years in the making, this new arm of the business launched in 2023 and has resulted in exponential growth within the franchise network.

Since the launch of the School Delivery Programme, Tutor Doctor franchisees have partnered with over 570 schools across the country and supported an additional 5,900 students. Network turnover has increased a staggering 114% year-on-year and the three franchisees who piloted the scheme have all exceeded £1million turnover. A testament to the sheer demand and success of the service, 66% of all work delivered by franchisees is now through schools and local authorities.

The Tutors’ Association (TTA) is the UK’s only regulatory body for professional tutors. Representing in the region of 50,000 tutors and with over 400 corporate members, the Association is the leading authority on the £6billion industry. “The scale and capacity of the private tuition sector is largely unknown by the general public,” explained TTA President, John Nichols. “The purpose of the National Tutoring Awards is to showcase the quality and diversity of professional tutors and tuition businesses in the UK, all of whom work tirelessly to support students across the UK and internationally. “

Unsurprisingly, Tutor Doctor remains the fastest-growing in-home tutoring franchise in the world. Franchisees manage a team of tutors and work closely with families to identify the needs of students. As successful business owners at the heart of the local community, franchisees help children to achieve their potential and change lives for the better. Tutors visit students at home or work with them one-to-one via an online platform for a truly bespoke, person-centred service.

As pilots of the scheme, franchisees Rob and Lynne Kerrison, who run Tutor Doctor Cambridge, won the Delivery to Schools award for their own local activity in 2023. This year, the entire Tutor Doctor franchise network has been recognised for its outstanding contribution to the sector. Winners will be announced at a gala dinner in London at the end of June.
