Natural World Fund - Rewilding Britain

Natural World Fund has a mission. Have you ever thought about what you could do to benefit the environment and have a more positive impact? A lot of us know we need to be doing something, but the question still remains… What can we do?

The team at Natural World Fund has set out to offer clear support, education and instruction for people that want to get involved in bettering our environment but don’t know how.

Donating to multiple initiatives that promise to plant a million trees is a start. But this only tackles one area of our ever-growing problem. The difference between this and the attitude of Natural World Fund is their beliefs towards profit and efficiency. Their mission is to input as much money as possible into climate change solutions across the board.

Similarly, as the team have opted not to become a registered charity, they avoid a number of limitations that would hinder their ability to achieve such a vast amount of their climate impact goals. With this in mind, their actions have already begun to span across the UK – raising funds for rewilding multiple acres of land.

The problem with repetitive tree planting is that it may benefit the reduction of pollutants and create improved air quality but there is little thought given to creating new habitats and expanding the biodiversity of a particular area.

The problems we are facing as a country start with the overpopulation of urban areas and the ways in which this destroys varieties of plant life. As a result, we lose out on key species as they no longer have places to live or forage for resources. The overall health levels of the land are also overlooked.

Natural World Fund looks at the bigger picture in terms of quality of life for animals and ourselves. They already have plans in place to invest in over 34 acres of land and this is growing every day. These span across England and Wales – allowing them to focus on bettering the land in the most efficient and sustainable ways.

They are dedicating areas to wildflowers, encouraging insects and other plants to facilitate growth and develop rich habitats. This is even something we can all do at home! Sections for wildflowers can open our gardens to a variety of wildlife, getting a headstart on the rewilding of land spanning urban areas too.

Educating The Future Generations

Natural World Fund are also growing their links with schools and organisations across the country to share their knowledge of rewilding and give people the chance to get involved in this cause before there’s no going back.

The team has said: “Right now, we are collectively not doing enough as a human race to prevent serious and permanent damage to our planet. The ONLY thing we need to turn this into a huge success is the support of you and other nature lovers.”

Forming these partnerships will ensure the message of rewilding and the importance of improving our environment is reiterated to those who are going to continue the impact in the future.

Without the support and engagement of as many people as possible, people like Natural World Fund aren’t going to be able to scale up their projects in the way we need. It’s time we all took a leaf out of their book and supported them through this climate crisis.
