The expert nursing team at Cromwell Vets in Cambridgeshire has celebrated after reaching 100 years of combined service.
The remarkable achievement is supported by the fact Cromwell’s three longest serving nurses, Kim Sacker, Sarah Milne and Katie Thompson, account for 65 of those years between them.
Sarah, now working in the vets’ administration team, has given 25 years of loyal service; Kim, team leader at Cromwell’s Sawtry branch, has clocked up 21 years; while Katie, who works at the Huntingdon clinic, has dedicated 19 years.
Clinical Nursing Manager Shona Brennan has highlighted the fabulous contribution of the team and Linnaeus-owned Cromwell Vets’ commitment to empowering its nurses.
Shona explained: “At Cromwell Vets, we strive to give our vet nurses, student vet nurses and pet care assistants the best opportunity to utilise their skills and experience to provide the best possible care and experience for our patients.
“Many of our Registered Veterinary Nurses also embark on further training and studies to develop additional skills to augment their core nursing qualifications.
“Providing this opportunity for our nursing team to build a career and to progress and develop is one of our key values and probably explains why so many of our nurses stay with us so long.”
Shona showcased some of the team who have added extra qualifications including Anne Selfe, group nursing manager, who is certified in nutrition and Vicki Elliot, clinical nursing manager, who has an exotics certification.
Night vet nurse Kirstie Connor and lead clinics nurse Narissa Merry are both certified by the International Society of Feline Medicine while Jenna Enver has a certificate in Emergency and Critical Care. Shona, herself, is certified in anaesthesia.
Cromwell Vets has practices in Huntingdon, St Ives, St Neots, Ramsey, Cambourne and Sawtry.
