Sheffield has been handpicked to trial an innovative new app that has been developed to drive footfall, get the UK back to business and save the high street.

The location-based deals app, MyGeo, launches this month and provides businesses with a platform to target nearby consumers via their smartphones with bespoke, vibrant and timely digital marketing.

The free app is the brainchild of York entrepreneur Sean Gregory who came up with the concept to level the playing field for UK businesses to promote their business by removing budgetary barriers.

The engaging app offers retail and hospitality businesses an easy-to-use platform to upload content and images which will pop up as a notification on consumers phones. For every MyGeo user that finds a great offer it’s then automatically shared with their friends increasing the reach of the business promotion across social groups.

“This app has been several years in development and we are delighted to bring it to the businesses of Sheffield to trial it before a national rollout. Sean adds, “The app is in constant development and other functions in the pipeline have the potential to change the way we do business forever.”

The app launches at an invite-only business event at Sheffield’s Winter Gardens on the 21st September and will be available to download on Android and the Apple store from the autumn.
