Global professional services consultancy, Turner & Townsend, has moved its North West office from 55 Spring Gardens to 11 York Street, Manchester, following strong growth across its infrastructure, real estate and advisory sectors in line with the firm’s long-term growth strategy.

According to the business’s latest Annual Review, revenue across the UK has increased by 25.6 percent over the past year to reach £404.2m, and employee numbers have risen 17 percent to a total of 4,206.

The North West region of the business, which now employs over 300 people, has also seen regional turnover soar to over £35m, driving the need for a larger office space in the city centre.

Alongside a number of prominent businesses including Rolls Royce and AON, Turner & Townsend has taken 11,500 sq ft of Aviva’s 11 York Street, which is significantly larger than its previous premises.

Stuart Sayer, North West Strategic Lead, Turner & Townsend, commented: “We are delighted with the growth that we’ve been able to achieve across the region and the new opportunities it has unlocked for future business.

“The new office represents an opportunity to create an environment which reflects modern work practices and one in which colleagues can collaborate to support our growth ambition. Staying within the city centre was extremely important to us and our clients, with our teams able to effectively use public transport, or walk and cycle to and from work.

“We also hope that the size, scale, and location of our new office space will help attract new talent as well as retain existing talent, including 80 graduates and apprentices we’ve welcomed over the last two years.”

Frankie Isherwood, Associate Director, CBRE’s Northern Occupier Services team, commented: “I was delighted to work with Turner & Townsend on their acquisition of space at 11 York Street which will greatly assist with their expansion plans in Manchester.  Their staff will get to enjoy the high quality amenity on offer in the building including a beautiful roof terrace overlooking the city.”

Leasing agents on 11 York Street are CBRE and OBI.  CBRE acted on behalf of Turner & Townsend to secure the lease, while OBI acted for landlord, Aviva.
