An industry-leading food testing company is egg-cited to be supporting a Wolverhampton-based food bank with their annual Easter Egg Appeal.

Eurofins Food and Water Testing UK, part of the global Eurofins group, has launched their first fundraising initiative of 2024: to ensure no child goes without a sweet treat in their local community this Easter.

Heading it up is Recruitment Manager, Laura Bentley, who’s located at Eurofins UK Headquarters in Wolverhampton.

She said: “We’re proud to be firm supporters of local Secret Angels Food Bank, and worked with them a few months ago donating food crates to assist individuals during the expensive Christmas period. Having seen the very real difference this made to local families, we were eager to contribute to their annual Easter Egg Appeal.

“As part of our company’s commitment to charitable causes and dedication to our local community, the entire team at Eurofins HQ kindly pledged to donate Easter Eggs. We were aiming to collect at least 150 ready to deliver to the food bank (just in time for the Easter Bunny), but thanks to the generosity of the team, we’re egg-static to have donated a whopping 318 chocolate eggs.”

Founded in 2021 by Alvina Ali, Secret Angels Food Bank is on a mission to ensure that no person goes hungry, and provides emergency food, parcels and support to families across Wolverhampton.

Their 2023 appeal saw the food bank receive 411 Easter eggs from individuals and businesses within the region, which were distributed to children in the Wolverhampton area whose families were on low incomes, or in difficult financial circumstances. All surplus eggs were donated to New Cross Hospital’s Children’s Ward.

Alvina added: “We received an overwhelming response to our Easter Egg Appeal last year, and despite increasing financial pressures due to the current cost-of-living crisis, it’s fantastic to see the whole community rally round to support us once again. And we’re incredibly appreciative to the Eurofins team who’ve donated over 300 chocolate eggs which will bring joy and festivity to families across Wolverhampton this Easter.”

With food and water testing facilities supported by their global network of laboratories and competence centres, Eurofins Food & Water Testing UK offers more than 200,000 analytical methods to establish the safety, composition, authenticity, origin, traceability and purity of foods.
