The organisers of 100% Optical, have announced that a dedicated event for ophthalmologists will make its debut at the 2024 show (24th-26th February).

Featuring as a co-located event within the optical show at London’s ExCel, 100% Ophthalmology will offer visitors and optical professionals alike a number of opportunities to network and connect with other sectors of the optical community. The exhibition sponsored by ZEISS and Haag-Streit UK will feature the latest equipment and instruments from the likes of Heidelberg Instruments, Canon | Sense Medical, Topcon and many more. In addition, it will also include its own tailored education programme, interactive sessions and workshops, providing unique learning opportunities for ophthalmologists.

Ophthalmology is the branch of medicine concerned with the diagnosis of disorders in the eye, and has never before been explored or showcased at previous 100% Optical shows.

The show’s organisers aim is to attract as many ophthalmic professionals and representatives from a combination of optical roles to attend the three day show as possible, including ophthalmologists, nurse consultants, physician associates, ophthalmic photographers, community screeners and health care assistants. Ophthalmology specialists will also join forces and work collaboratively with optometrists, dispensing optometrists and the wider optical industry.

The Ophthalmology Hub will be designed as a lecture space on the show floor, walled off for privacy, to accommodate 25 people per session. Hoya, Rayner and Sense Medical are sponsoring 1-hour speaking sessions in the Ophthalmology Theatre. The programme will unite renowned experts and thought leaders in the field of ophthalmology to share insights, learnings and experiences. Each day will be themed to cover diverse topics such as Glaucoma, Cataract Presbyopia, Retina, Refractive, Paediatric and Cornea.

Nathan Garnett, 100% Optical show director, said: “100% Optical 2024 marks a decade of the show and to be able to introduce and include this important area to our exhibition is a significant enhancement to the offering.

“Following a collaborative session earlier this year we’ve worked directly with Ophthalmologists to create a show specifically tailored to their needs and interests bringing cutting-edge technology, innovation and discovery. The show’s dates run over a weekend, we hope this makes it easier for specialists to attend without having to take time away from work during the week.”

100% Ophthalmology will also feature a drop in ‘Ask the Expert’ area to book one-to-one 30-minute consultations with experts for free advice.
