Flintshire-based Anwyl Homes has helped a school in Rhuddlan make a splash with a £500 donation towards the installation of new outdoor wash basins.

With Covid-safe school guidelines requiring all 215 pupils to wash their hands many times throughout the day, Ysgol y Castell on Hylas Lane needed a number of new wash basins to make the process of hand washing quicker and easier for the children after breaktime and their outdoor educational sessions.

Four new sets of sinks have been installed in total, two on the wall in the main playground, and one in each of the Foundation stage outdoor areas, resulting in an additional 16 extra taps in total.

They are used by the individual class bubbles on a timetable rota and are perfectly set up for fast and effective hand washing with each sink station having a soap dispenser and paper towels close by for ease of use.

Head teacher at Ysgol y Castell, Vicki Cotgreave, commented: “We are so grateful to Anwyl Homes for its kind contribution towards the purchase and installation of our sinks. With only a few sinks located inside the school, we were experiencing a lot of congestion and loss in learning time. The new sinks located around the school have helped reduce the time that hand washing is taking and have made the whole process smoother and easier for the children.”

With its latest development, known as Parc Tirionfa, located close to the school, Anwyl Homes was very happy to get involved. Sales director, Graeme Gibb, said: “We were pleased to be able to help Ysgol y Castell with its wash basin appeal. Children have had to adapt to many changes in daily life at school, which includes washing their hands more frequently, and it looks like the new wash basins are making hand washing much easier and also getting the children back into the classroom faster.”

Anwyl currently has a selection of four bedroom homes available for sale at its Parc Tirionfa development that start from £262,995, with a number qualifying for Help to Buy, and homes advisor at Parc Tirionfa, Susan Jones, came to the school to present the cheque and see the new wash basins in action.
