Mocha team member shows off the new Zapaygo app

An end-to-end app platform that removes the need for customers to reach into their wallet and pay by card whilst taking away the headache for businesses, has been launched.
Specifically developed for the leisure and hospitality entertainment sectors, Birmingham-based John Checkley and his team have seen the app, Zapaygo, evolve over the last five years.

The app was in existence long before the pandemic. Bustling bars and quick turnover restaurants needed a solution to speed up and secure transactions and customers wanted more time with their friends and less time queuing at the bar or waiting to pay their bills.

As John explains:

“In the UK alone, 24% of UK people use mobile and wallet payments to buy goods and services. China is the leader in this form of payment, but we are a very close second. As an early adopter country, we knew that there was huge scope for app technology to be used even more widely across our hospitality and leisure establishments. Now table service is mandatory, this app could not help more.

“After many months of testing, adapting and trialling, we’re pleased to say that Zapaygo is an extremely user-friendly app for both customer and business owner and, importantly, enables all aspects of a pub, bar, restaurant and entertainment venue to be controlled at the touch of a button, streamlining services and maximising productivity and profitability.”
And it’s not just an app for busy bars. Since launching, Zapaygo is being trialled by the ever-popular cafes and pop-ups, many of which have maintained decent trade throughout the lockdown due to their take-out and delivery services.

One of the early adopters is Mocha Coffee Lounge in Streetly Village. Owner Kate says: “When Covid-19 hit we knew we had to offer an alternative method of payment for our customers to reduce cash handling and unnecessary contact. yet without losing the personal touch.

“As a local business, serving lots of regulars, we couldn’t afford to lose the personal touch and so we knew that we didn’t want an app to stop that – and it doesn’t, it simply makes life easier for us and has also reduced any ordering errors, It’s actually given our staff more time to interact, with social distancing rules observed, of course.

“Some of our customers still have the option to pay by card, but we’re finding that many more are using the app – particularly our younger customers. Some of our older customers have needed a little more encouragement, but once they see how easy it is, they absolutely love it – in a way I think it’s helping them to be a little more adventurous with technology. We’re pleased to be part of this shift via Zapaygo”

As John continues

“I really believe this technology will transform the industry. Hospitality has finally woken up to the many ways it can help streamline and speed up their processes and I am so proud that Zapaygo is playing its part.”
