Property developer and operator Downing has secured planning committee approval for a 411-bedroom student accommodation scheme in Newcastle.
The 14-storey scheme, Heron’s Yard, located on Heber Street, will comprise a mixture of 294 studios and 117 shared cluster flats.
Designed by architect SimsponHaugh, the scheme will provide exemplary accommodation designed to meet the growing demand for high-quality student living in the city.
Heron’s Yard is the final phase of Downing Plaza, delivered over the last decade, comprising Newcastle University Business School, over 1,800 student bedrooms, a 183-room hotel, and extensive retail space.
With its strategic location, the scheme serves as a magnificent gateway to Newcastle City Centre, ideally positioned to cater to the vibrant student lifestyle.
In line with Downing’s commitment to sustainability, Heron’s Yard has been designed to a BREEAM Excellent standard and sustainable features are included throughout the development.
