The Merrion Centre has unveiled “The Library,” a new, dedicated free space offering customers a serene environment inspired by the ambiance of a traditional library, located in the heart of the main mall.

The Library provides a tranquil escape amidst the bustling energy of Leeds. With its cosy sofas and spacious tables and chairs, this inviting space invites students, professionals and the wider community to escape and find solace in quiet contemplation.

James Broughton, Head of Marketing & Communications for owners of the Merrion Centre, Town Centre Securities PLC (TCS) commented on the opening;

“As a hub for students and professionals in Leeds, the Merrion Centre sees a high volume of individuals seeking spaces to study, meet, work or recharge throughout the day. Following the success of our more open seating space, The Green, the introduction of The Library further addresses this need by providing an alternative, quieter welcoming environment that caters to the diverse needs of our community.

“We are thrilled to introduce this exciting addition, which embodies our commitment to enhancing the overall experience for visitors by providing them with a welcoming environment that not only promotes relaxation, but also encourages generosity and camaraderie among our customers and colleagues.”

Patrons are encouraged to contribute to the community spirit by donating books to support the Merrion Centres pre-loved stores including Leeds Hospitals Charity, St Gemma’s, and the British Heart Foundation as well as bring in their own novels to swap within the community.
