Manchester-based drinks brewer, Hip Pop, is celebrating its largest commercial listing to date after joining Sainsbury’s Future Brands initiative.

Following previous listings in Booths and London’s popular department store, Harrods, the disruptor brand has launched in 280 Sainsbury’s stores across the UK, further enhancing an existing international market presence.

The yearlong initiative gives Hip Pop access to the supermarket’s millions of customers, as well as marketing support and scale-up guidance. Out of the ‘big four,’ Sainsbury’s will also be the exclusive retailer for their sodas and kombuchas.

Three of Hip Pop’s hugely popular SKUs will come in multipacks, starting from £5.25. The 4 x 330ml cans that will be available are: Apple & Elderflower Kombucha, Orange Gut Lovin’ Soda, and Cherry & Blackberry CBD Kombucha, which is priced at £6. All can be found in the ambient section in stores across the country.

Emma Thackray, co-founder of Hip Pop, commented: “With our recent product launches and impressive growth, the news that Sainsbury’s will be introducing Hip Pop in nearly 300 stores is another huge testament to the work that’s taken place behind the scenes. We’ve worked closely with the supermarket to bring our range of kombuchas and sodas to a wider audience, and we’re delighted that our products are more accessible than ever before.

“Hip Pop recently launched the Gut Lovin’ Soda range to great success, selling over 6,000 cans through our e-commerce site alone in the first week. To follow that up with a fantastic retail opportunity with Sainsbury’s is something we’re hugely proud of. Our expert brewers have crafted drinks that clearly resonate with consumers and have become the cornerstone of the success of Hip Pop.

“So far in 2023, we’ve seen new hires, product launches, and exciting business development opportunities. Launching in one of the nation’s biggest supermarkets marks another wonderful milestone and we can’t wait to see what else Hip Pop can achieve.”

Based in Altrincham, Hip Pop is a fast-growing powerhouse of the Northern drinks industry. Launched in 2019, it now employs a growing team of 18, including qualified brewers.
