A specialist security firm is preparing to hit the track at Croft Circuit this August to give military veterans a high-speed day out to remember.
SSGC will be joining its nominated charity Mission Motorsport at the North Yorkshire racetrack on Tuesday 22nd August to offer passenger rides to former military personnel.
SSGC CEO David Stubbs, who is a former military policeman, will be hitting the track to give veterans high-octane passenger rides in a BMW M3 as part of the company’s commitment to Mission Motorsport.
The charity works with wounded, injured or sick (WIS) service leavers and veterans and helps those affected by military operations by engagement through sport.
It will be joined by armed forces charity, Sporting Force, which will be hosting a veterans village featuring stalls and games hosted by more than 32 veterans charities, and attended by the likes of SSAFA and Soldiers Charity.
SSGC’s sponsorship of the veterans event is part of its ongoing commitment to Mission Motorsport, which has seen it raise more than £100,000 and provide more than 1,200 hours of volunteering for the charity to date.
SSGC has a long-standing link with the armed forces community and became the first security firm in the country to appoint a Veteran Engagement Director.
David said: “It’s fantastic to be supporting Mission Motorsport at the forces family funday this year at Croft. With its proximity to Catterick Garrison we are certain this will be well attended, and it is an honour to provide some relief to forces families who all regularly make sacrifices that other families don’t have to face.
“I’ve been humbled by the number of SSGC staff who freely give up their time to volunteer at such events, and would like to extend my gratitude to Auto RARA who have prepared a wonderful BMW M3 for the day, and will be in attendance.”
The event has been co-ordinated by Major (Retd) Pat Ralph MM, who has been appointed to the role of veteran engagement director at SSGC to oversee its work with service leavers and build on its work with motorsport charity, Mission Motorsport.
Major Pat said: “Supporting and promoting events like this one is a big part of our pledge and we know that it can have a positive effect on the lives of veterans and their families.”
SSGC will also have a stand to promote the event outside Catterick’s Tesco superstore off Gough Road on Thursday 17th and Friday 18th August, where visitors can also see the prepared BMW M3 ahead of the race event on 22nd August.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, SSGC deployed more than 5,000 staff, many of whom were military veterans, to marshal testing centres across the UK on behalf of the UK government.
