Swindon headquartered medical device company adds to raft of awards success in 50th year

A prestigious awards scheme recognising outstanding dedication to improving healthcare and effective collaboration with the NHS has named Vygon UK as a finalist, for Virtual Care Project of the Year.

The HSJ Partnership Awards, now in its seventh year, rewards the impressive levels of innovation and care continually being developed across the UK’s healthcare system.

Following a thorough judging process, Vygon achieved a coveted shortlisting to acknowledge how its elastomeric device, Accufuser, has improved patient outcomes, reduced clinical hours and saved money for three NHS Trusts.

Successful outcomes of these UK collaborations include reducing hospital stays, admissions, and medical complications, lessening the environmental impact of community nursing teams, and offering preferred place of care and place of death, for patients and families.

Vygon’s James Cunningham, Business Development Manager, Intravascular Therapies, says: “Effective implementation of medical technology is essential for virtual wards initiatives to function, so NHS Trusts need to partner with reputable organisations that can provide proven tools, supported by training for clinicians. With Accufuser, Vygon does just that and the product is suitable for a variety of treatments and therapies.

“These three NHS partnerships prove the efficacy of the Accufuser pump, which delivers the safe and accurate continuous flow of intravenous medications. We’re thrilled to be recognised as a finalist in these awards.”

HSJ editor Alastair McLellan, adds: “It always gives me great pleasure to congratulate our finalists at this stage of the judging process and this year is no exception as we acknowledge Vygon UK for being shortlisted in the category of Virtual Care Project of the Year.

“The calibre of entries left our panel of expert judges with some tough decisions to deliberate over. However, it’s always important to remember that the HSJ Partnership Awards are not just a celebration of success stories, but also a platform to shape the future collaboration within the NHS.

“We can’t wait to welcome our finalists to the awards ceremony in March and to recognise and applaud such impressive achievements across the sector.

The news rounds off a successful year for Vygon UK, which marks 50 years of trading in 2023. Over the past 12 months the company has secured a string of industry accolades, being named as winners for Best Partnership with the NHS (Integrated Health Awards 2023), Best Solution Supporting New Models of Care (Health Tech Awards 2023) and Health and Social Care Research Partnership Award with Industry (MediWales Innovation Awards).

The winners of the HSJ Partnership Awards will be announced during the awards ceremony at Evolution London on March 21 2024.
