A Walsall-based family entertainment business is set to expand its facilities and create new community space after securing a £25,000 grant from Walsall Business Support.

PMG Karting World offers a range of activities for families from across the region, including go karting for children aged four and above, axe throwing, interactive darts and laser tag.

Now in its fourth year of operation, the business was founded by Daniel Wilkinson based on his experiences with his son, who was born with brain damage and has since been diagnosed with ADHD and autism. A shared interest in motorsport led to karting becoming an important part of family life and ultimately inspired the creation of the business.

The £25,000 grant will be used to install a mezzanine floor and create a new go kart track aimed at children aged four to eight. The additional track will provide extra capacity and free up time on the existing circuit. The mezzanine area will also be used for community activities, including sessions for parents and carers.

Daniel Wilkinson, Director of PMG Karting World, said: “We are so delighted to receive this support from Walsall Business Support. The funding will allow us to expand our premises and introduce a new activity aimed at younger children while helping us manage increasing operating costs.

“The additional track will increase capacity and support future growth. It will also help us retain existing jobs and create further employment opportunities as demand increases. Importantly, the mezzanine will also be used as a flexible community hub, allowing us to host community-focused sessions for local parents and carers to connect, reduce isolation and build stronger social ties within the community.”

Led by leading business figures to distribute funds collected from the legacy of Walsall Chamber of Commerce, Walsall Business Support funds projects to enhance the borough’s economy. It offers grants and a free training needs analysis to businesses looking to generate growth, create employment or shape training opportunities within the borough of Walsall.

Walsall Business Support board member, Rob Colbourne, said: “PMG Karting World has continued to invest in its facilities as the business has grown. The new track and additional space will provide greater capacity and create opportunities for further employment and community inclusion, while adding to the range of leisure facilities available in Walsall.”

Looking ahead, PMG Karting World plans to continue expanding its activities and increase its work with schools and community organisations. The business also hopes to host larger events and create further job opportunities for local people as it continues to grow.

Grant applications to Walsall Business Support can be made via their website by locally based businesses seeking investment in new projects or wishing to improve skills.
