L-R: Jessica, Amelia and Lydia of KH Hair

East Midlands salon group, KH Hair is celebrating after three of its stylists were named as finalists at separate top UK hairdressing industry awards.

Jessica Neil of KH Hair West Bridgford, has been shortlisted for the Eastern Hairdresser of the Year title at HJ’s British Hairdressing Awards, sponsored by Schwarzkopf Professional. Widely regarded as the highlight of the hairdressing calendar, the annual awards – now in their 39th year – celebrate the outstanding creative and technical skills of stylists from across the United Kingdom.

Jessica is one of just six finalists who impressed over 100 judges by demonstrating the breadth of her hairdressing expertise, including both technical and creative abilities. ‘I’m absolutely over the moon to have reached the finals of such a prestigious awards event,” says Jessica. I’m incredibly proud of my collection and hope the judges will see the passion and time that has gone into creating it.”

18-year-old Amelia Krasinski, who works at KH Hair in Arnold, has finalised in the Colour Visionary category at the Wella Professionals TrendVision Awards UK & Ireland. The prestigious competition celebrates exceptional talent and has become one of the most iconic hair competitions in the hairdressing industry.

Completing the hat trick is Lydia Coles (19), an apprentice at KH Hair’s Ashbourne and Tutbury salons, who has been named as a finalist in the XPOSURE Creative Colour category at TrendVision. The category is an initiative designed to help students take their first steps on the competition ladder. “I was at college when I got a call from Beckie my manager,” says Lydia. “I couldn’t believe it when she told me. I was in shock! Actually, my feelings went from shock and disbelief to panic!

“I have always wanted to be a hairdresser and I couldn’t wait to start once my A Levels were over. I love the creative side of hairdressing and competitions are perfect for making you think creatively. I am so grateful that KH Hair pushed me out my comfort zone and made sure I entered, as now it has given me this wonderful opportunity. Bring on September!”

KH Hair Group managing director, Darren Messias, says he’s incredibly proud of the trio. “Jess is an incredibly talented hairdresser who works tirelessly to push herself and achieve her goals, which is why she has finalised in the competition several times and been fortunate enough to win it in 2018. Amelia is a real rising star within our company and we are so excited for her to have this experience.  As for Lydia, we are so proud of her for having the determination to enter this competition. All of us at KH Hair would like to wish all of them the very best of luck in the finals later in the year.”

The TrendVision and Exposure finals will take place at Magazine London on Monday 25th September.  The British Hairdressing Awards final will take place on Monday 27th November at the JW Marriott Grosvenor House London.
