AO.com, the online electricals store, tonight launches a new TV advert reassuring customers that it continues to deliver essential electricals safely to every UK postcode, every day.

Created entirely by AO’s production team in less than two weeks, mainly using footage shot by its employees at home, the first 30 second advert will air tonight at 7:15pm on ITV alongside a social media campaign to recognise and reward local heroes.

The TV ad highlights the way that essential home electricals have been put to use like never before as homes have become more than just the place we live – they’re doubling up as schools and offices during the lockdown.

“With stores still closed and people relying on their electricals more than ever for boxset bingeing, calming cuppas and feasts from the fridge, customers need to know where they can get what they need, when they need it from a name they can trust”, said John Roberts, AO’s Founder and Chief Executive.

“We’ve made huge changes behind the scenes to make sure we’re operating safely and as the UK’s largest online electricals retailer, we’ve worked with manufacturers to make sure there’s plenty available for customers.”

AO.com, which had its highest ever customer satisfaction scores over the last month, is also giving away daily rewards to celebrate the people keeping the nation powering on, from NHS workers to local volunteers to delivery drivers.

Customers can nominate their heroes on AO’s social media channels using #AOHero and explaining why their nominee deserves to be rewarded and recognised.  Different AO employees will choose a winner every day who’ll receive whatever electricals they might need including 4K TVs, laptops, coffee machines or appliances.

“At AO.com, we’re all about making the ordinary extraordinary and now we want to celebrate how our customers are doing the same during this time of national crisis by crowning them an AO Hero,” added John.

The TV and social media campaign will run throughout May and hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of electricals are expected to be given away to the AO Heroes.

It’s been nearly two years since “AO Let’s Go” was last heard on TV and is returning to screens now because with more people watching TV, it’s a cost-effective way to reach customers.

AO employs 90 people in full-service creative and multimedia teams based in Bolton and Manchester, including copywriters, designers and film production.  11 of the team worked on this latest AO campaign.
