BALANCE: A Perimenopause Journey to arrive on Apple TV and Amazon Prime on the 30th of January
A new four-part docuseries around the long ignored women’s health crisis: perimenopause, is set to arrive on Apple TV for streaming on the 30th of January.
Executively Produced by American TV personality Jeannie Mai and actress Alyssa Milano, “BALANCE: A Perimenopause Journey,” joins forces with award-winning Jain monk filmmakers Sadhvi Siddhali Shree and Sadhvi Anubhuti to spotlight the impact of perimenopause on women and the injustice of women struggling to receive the right information and hormone treatment. UK doctor and bestselling author Dr Louise Newson joins the series as the UK expert advice for the series.
“BALANCE” follows Siddhali and Anubhuti as they explore one of the most universal, yet least discussed, time in a woman’s life: perimenopause. As the filmmakers begin experiencing their own symptoms, they uncover how silence, stigma, and widespread misinformation have left generations of women suffering in the dark. Through intimate storytelling, expert perspectives, and deeply personal revelations, “BALANCE” exposes the truth about hormones, health, and the human experience. More than a documentary, “BALANCE” is a call to awareness – an invitation for women, partners, and medical professionals to finally understand this profound and transformative stage of life – one that impacts millions of women in the UK.
“All women experience perimenopause, yet there’s so much confusion, misinformation and isolation,” says Milano. “‘BALANCE” shines a light on a time of life that deserves real understanding and real compassion, as well as the right treatment. This series gives women something they’ve been missing for far too long: information, knowledge and a much-needed sense of community.”
Mai adds, “Women talk about everything… until we reach perimenopause. The mood swings, hot flashes, brain fog – we’ve all been there, but almost no one speaks openly about it. Siddhali and Anubhuti open the door to honest, heartfelt conversations. I’m proud to be a part of something that empowers women and brings truth to a very real chapter of our lives.”
Dr Louise Newson explains: “BALANCE is such an impactful and much-needed documentary that I’m honoured to be a part of. It’s so exciting but I also feel frustrated that there’s still millions of women globally that are being listened to and still aren’t able to access hormones which improve both symptoms and future health, which this docuseries highlights. The health system is failing so many women and there’s so much we need to do. I know this series is going to make a huge impact on both women and men.”
Featuring extraordinary physicians, researchers, and leading menopause clinicians including Dr Mary Claire Haver, Dr Louise Newson, Dr Vonda Wright, Dr Heather Hirsch, Dr Sharon Malone, Dr Rachel Rubin, Dr Sameena Rahman, and others, “BALANCE” brings together some of the most trusted voices in women’s health.
Apple arrives on Apple TV on the 30th of January in the United Kingdom, US, Canada and Australia.
