Berkshire based AuDHD expert, podcast host and writer Jenny Lucas debut book Autism, ADHD and Me: Your No Bullshit Guide to Life After Diagnosis has hit multiple bestseller lists since its release on Tuesday 28th October. The book addresses a critical gap in support for the rapidly growing number of women discovering they’re neurodivergent later in life – a demographic that research shows is three times more likely to be misdiagnosed or overlooked entirely compared to men.

Jenny, 41, who lives in Wokingham, knows this territory intimately. After 16 years as a teacher, her undiagnosed autism and ADHD led to complete burnout that forced her to leave the profession she loved. Her subsequent diagnosis at 37 was both liberating and devastating – finally having answers, but grieving decades of struggling without understanding why.

Launched during ADHD Awareness Month, Autism, ADHD and Me tackles the questions that keep late-diagnosed women awake at night: “Who am I when I stop masking?” and “How do I rebuild my life now I know the truth?” The book combines Jenny’s personal journey with evidence-based coaching strategies, addressing everything from workplace accommodations to repairing relationships damaged by years of misunderstanding. The book also knocked Miranda Hart off the top spot on Amazon!

“I’m incredibly excited about this book and genuinely believe it will impact so many women who are navigating this complex but ultimately liberating journey,” says mum of two Jenny. “There’s such a need for honest, practical support that doesn’t shy away from the difficult emotions that come with late diagnosis.” “The response has been overwhelming,” Jenny explains. “Women are telling me they finally feel seen and understood. That’s exactly what this book aims to do on a larger scale.”

Unlike existing resources that focus primarily on children or offer generic advice, Jenny’s guide is specifically written for women who’ve spent decades thinking they were “too sensitive” or “just different,” only to discover in their 30s, 40s, or 50s that they’re actually autistic and have ADHD.

Jenny is the founder of Audhdistically Me, a coaching platform that has supported hundreds of late-diagnosed women, and host of the popular podcast Autism, ADHD and Us Three. As a certified trauma-informed somatic coach and positive psychology practitioner, she’s become a go-to expert on the unique challenges facing this demographic.
