Bookface, the rapidly expanding global community of book enthusiasts founded by passionate reader and broadcaster Heather Suttie in 2020, is set to host next month’s highly anticipated Sip & Swap event in Glasgow on Sunday 25th February.
This unique gathering in the city’s August House, features a sustainable book exchange and an insightful interview with esteemed guest author Graeme Armstrong, promises an entertaining and enriching experience for avid readers. The highlight of the Bookface Sip & Swap will be a 45-minute Q&A session with Graeme Armstrong, the acclaimed Scottish author behind the breakout Sunday Times bestseller, “The Young Team.”
Graeme Armstrong’s journey from facing numerous rejections due to his novel’s use of Scots language to achieving widespread acclaim and receiving prestigious awards is a testament to his resilience and literary prowess. Hailing from Airdrie, he spent his teenage years immersed in North Lanarkshire’s gang culture. Inspired by reading Irvine Welsh’s “Trainspotting” at the age of sixteen, Armstrong pursued a degree in English Literature.
Overcoming personal struggles with drug addiction, alcohol abuse, and violence, he defied expectations by earning an undergraduate degree with honours at the University of Stirling. Armstrong later returned to pursue a master’s in creative writing.
The Bookface Sip & Swap features the opportunity to participate in a sustainable book swap, boasting a diverse collection of hundreds of titles across various genres. Guests are encouraged to bring up to four books in good condition to partake in the exchange. However, even those without books to contribute are welcomed to join in.
Founded by Heather Suttie in 2020, Bookface has evolved into a global community of avid readers dedicated to sharing their love for outstanding books. The monthly Bookface events in Glasgow consistently sell out, attracting book lovers from across the UK. These gatherings feature enlightening Q&A sessions with some of the most prominent authors of the moment.
Graeme Armstrong joins an illustrious line-up of authors who have graced sold-out Bookface events including Chris Brookmyre, John Niven, Davinia Taylor, Alan Parks, Nikki May, Susannah Constantine, Sam Baker, Doug Allan,Helen Fitzgerald, Paul English, and Sophie Gravia.
Guests will have the opportunity to purchase a copy of Graeme Armstrong’s book, “The Young Team,” on the day of the event. Tickets priced £20 which includes two drinks of your choice are available via Eventbrite.
