Competitive Socialising Chain Launches Interactive Darts at Metrocentre

New interactive darts in The Esacpologist

Immersive escape room, competitive socialising and bar chain The Escapologist has extended its offering with the launch of interactive darts at its Metrocentre site in Gateshead.

Using cutting-edge technology, the brand-new darts system not only brings instant scoring and dynamic graphics across a whole host of collaborative games, but customers can also play back the most epic moments – captured in real time – on the big screen as well as on their phone after receiving their own personalised ‘social replay’ videos, scores and group photos at the end of the experience.

Providing a memorable destination for families, friends and colleagues, The Escapologist Metrocentre also has seven unique escape rooms to choose from, in addition to a steampunk-themed bar with a range of cocktails and mocktails on offer.

Ellie McClaren, co-founder and CEO of The Escapologist, said: “The Escapologist is already a popular destination for immersive entertainment; however, we’re excited to improve our offering even further with the launch of our interactive darts, appealing to a broader audience looking for dynamic group activities.

“We’ve taken everything people love about traditional darts and levelled it up with smart tech. Our system blends high-energy gameplay with spot-on scoring, awesome visuals and a whole menu of interactive games. Whether you’re a darts pro or just here for the good times, there’s something for everyone – whether it’s a birthday, team-building event, or just a casual night out, expect laughs, high-fives and a little friendly rivalry. We can’t wait to see how our brand-new interactive games are received by both new and returning customers and hope everyone enjoys them as much as we do!”

Since it was established in 2017, The Escapologist has gone from strength to strength, doubling its number of escape rooms across its three locations and recently revealing its newly renovated bar area at its Leeds site. Earlier this month, The Escapologist co-founders and husband and wife Olly and Ellie were shortlisted for the Creative Entrepreneur of the Year Award at the Great British Entrepreneur Awards (GBEA) 2025.

Committed to delivering a world-class, memorable experience that allows customers to “escape the everyday to the extraordinary”, the couple plan to continue rolling out their competitive socialising activities throughout their other venues in the near future, in addition to the ongoing development and expansion of its escape rooms.
