Brij Thankey, CEO, Precision FM receiving his award

Leicester-based Precision FM is celebrating after winning two awards at this year’s East Midlands Chamber of Commerce Business Awards. The ceremony, which was a celebration of business excellence in Leicestershire, took place on Friday 3 December at the Leicester Tigers Rugby Club.

The company won the award for Commitment to People Development and Precision FM’s CEO, Brij Thankey took home the award for Entrepreneur of the Year.

Commenting on the award wins, Brij Thankey said: “We are thrilled to have won two awards at this year’s ceremony and to have also been named as a finalist in the Small Business of the Year category. It’s especially wonderful to have had our commitment to staff development recognised as we are truly a people-focused business with the key to our success being our amazing team.

“Our aim has always been to be seen as the FM provider of choice with exceptional people, delivering exceptional customer service. We pride ourselves on being able to offer our highly engaged workforce an abundance of opportunities to display their passion and positivity for the company and achieve strong personal growth. To have been recognised by the East Midlands Chamber of Commerce is a fantastic honour and one that the whole company will be proud of.”

Precision FM has enjoyed a strong period of growth. Now employing 40 members of staff, the company is committed to its future success by reinvesting its profits back into the business with a particular focus on staff wellbeing and development.

The company actively supports and advocates for its employees’ mental health. It has an online system, the Healing Hub, which offers multiple resources to help manage stress and anxiety as well as actively promoting the Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) course, ensuring managers are adequately trained to deal with mental health incidents in the workplace.

As CEO, Brij is committed to giving back to the local community and this has been recognised with his Entrepreneur of the Year award win.  In August 2020, Brij created the Precision FM Foundation through which the company donates a percentage of its profits to a variety of charities nominated by employees. Recipients have included Soft Touch Charity, Headstrong, Save the Rhino International and Loughborough based Rainbows Children’s Hospice. Earlier this year, the company also became a Community Partner of Leicester City Football Club.

Scott Knowles, chief executive of East Midlands Chamber, said: “There has been so much to celebrate within our business community despite a challenging 18 months and these awards have showcased some of the incredible companies that call our region home.

“As the economic recovery continues, and new opportunities present themselves in a new era of global trade and sustainable business, these are just the kinds of organisations we should be highlighting when we’re shouting about everything the East Midlands has to offer. We know it’s a great place to do business and these are living proof.”
