Home Bargains has invested approximately £4 million in its new store in Rutherglen, Glasgow, which will be officially opened at 8.00 am on Saturday 23rd October 2021.
As one of the UK’s largest family-run retailers, Home Bargains is creating 59 new jobs in the local community with its store on Dalmarnock Road. In total, the store will employ 60 team members, including a colleague who will be transferring from a local store.
It will also be donating £2,000 to local charity Healthy n Happy Community Development Trust, which is a community-owned organisation run by local people for local people. The charity offers support to local residents, helping them to make positive changes in their lives and the community.
Brendan Rooney, Executive Director at Healthy n Happy Community Development Trust, said: “On behalf of everyone at Healthy n Happy thank you so much to Home Bargains for your support and kind donation. It really helps and will help us to support local residents and communities in very difficult times. Best wishes for your new store.”
The new Rutherglen store will join over 575 outlets across the UK. Opening approximately 50 stores a year, Home Bargains is bucking current trends in the industry.
Mary Ann Macdonald, the new Dalmarnock Road store manager, said: “I’ve worked in the retail sector for over 30 years, but there’s nothing quite like the buzz of opening a new store.
“There’s a lot of hard work and dedication that’s gone into the new store and I can’t wait to open its doors this weekend alongside such a fantastic team. It’s something that I’m exceptionally proud of.”
The 20,893 sq ft store will offer shoppers a range of products, including homewares, health and beauty essentials, sweets, snacks and drinks, as well as fresh and frozen food.
Macdonald added: “Dalmarnock Road will be a great location for us and we’re proud to be able to offer local people top-branded goods at exceptionally low prices.”
With more than five million customers each week, Home Bargains is one of the country’s best-loved discount retailers, stocking top-quality branded goods at low prices.
