Home Bargains Botley Road, Oxford

Home Bargains has invested approximately £13 million in its new store in Oxford, which will be officially opened at 8.00 am on Saturday 12 December 2020.

As one of the UK’s largest family-run retailers, Home Bargains is creating 120 new jobs in the local community with its store on Botley Road.

It will also be donating £2,000 to the local charity, The Gatehouse, which has been supporting Oxford’s homeless and vulnerably-housed community since 1988.

The charity, which operates out of St Giles Parish Rooms, provides its services free of charge and without the need for guests to register or prove a local connection, offering a safety net to all, including those individuals who cannot access other services around the city.

The new Oxford store will join over 500 outlets across the UK. Opening approximately 50 stores a year, Home Bargains is bucking current trends in the industry.

Jeanie Mining, the new Oxford store manager, said: “I’m delighted to be joining the Home Bargains team as store manager of the new Oxford site. Having worked in retail for 25 years, I can honestly say nothing beats the buzz of a brand-new store.”

The 42,173 sq ft store, which formerly housed Toys ‘R’ Us, is adjacent to Aldi and Wickes, and will offer shoppers a range of products, including homewares, health and beauty essentials, sweets, snacks and drinks, as well as fresh and frozen food. The new store also has an on-site café serving hot and cold refreshments for customers.

Jeanie added: “We’re thrilled to be opening our new store in Oxford this Saturday and look forward to welcoming customers through its doors.”

“Botley Road will be a great location for us and we’re proud to be able to offer local people top-branded goods at exceptionally low prices.”

With more than five million customers each week, Home Bargains is one of the country’s best-loved discount retailers, stocking top-quality branded goods at low prices.
