Kent Author GA Wooldridge Has Debut Novel Published By Author Gate

An author from Kent has taken an unexpected step into the literary world with her debut novel published by Author Gate.

GA Wooldridge, who works as a podiatrist, is the author of Footsteps of the Dead, a suspense-driven story about a killer whose crimes are traced through the smallest of clues: the killer’s feet.

Blending her professional insight with a passion for dark, character-driven storytelling, Wooldridge has crafted a gripping and original premise. “I wanted to explore how much we reveal in the smallest details,” Wooldridge explains. “In my work, I see traces of people’s lives in their movements and injuries. That fascination became the heart of the story.”

The novel follows Clara, a podiatrist whose carefully ordered life begins to fracture when several of her patients are found murdered, each death marked by a disturbing and deliberate pattern. As the investigation unfolds, Clara becomes increasingly aware of haunting symbols connected to her own past, forcing her to confront the possibility that she is not merely an observer but the intended final target. The story explores themes of obsession, trauma, and survival, as Clara fights to reclaim control while the darkness surrounding her steadily closes in.

Drawing inspiration from celebrated crime writers such as Val McDermid and Elizabeth Haynes, Wooldridge’s writing combines psychological tension with emotional honesty. The authenticity of her clinical background lends Footsteps of the Dead rare precision and depth, earning early recognition from Author Gate, a traditional publisher experienced with new writers.
