Liverpool site manager wins Pride in the Job award

A site manager working for Bellway’s North West division has been rewarded for their dedication to building quality homes for their customers.

Andy Sharpe is currently the site manager at Bellway’s Lydiate Gate development in Merseyside, which offers a range of two, three, four and five bedroom homes. It is the third time he has won this award.

A total of two site managers from the division, which is based in Liverpool, were announced as winners of the National House Building Council’s (NHBC) Pride in the Job Quality Awards.

The awards, which are now in their 45^th year, are among the most highly-prized in the housebuilding industry, with only 449 from 7,500 site managers inspected by the NHBC selected for the honour.

Judging for the awards is a rigorous process which encompasses every aspect of a site manager’s responsibilities, including consistency, attention to detail, leadership, interpretation of drawings and specifications, technical expertise and health and safety. Spot checks are also carried out on the day-to-day running of the site.

The successful site managers will now go on to be judged in the next round of the competition – the Seal of Excellence and Regional Awards – which will be announced in the autumn.

Commenting on his win, Andy Sharpe says: “It is a great achievement for myself and the team at Lydiate Gate. There is a high level of expectation from the NHBC so winning this award is testament to the hard work we deliver daily.

“Lydiate Gate is a very busy site with high levels of output, yet we have managed to maintain good practices, which I am proud of. Having won the award previously this time feels ever so slightly better as it was harder to achieve due to the large numbers of houses we had to deliver, whilst remaining true to Bellway’s high standards.

“It’s a superb accolade and I’m thrilled to have received my third Pride in the Job award.”
