Following a public vote, Lord Combustion Services has announced that its new cartoon mascot will be called Blaze.
The award-winning commercial heating and ventilation specialist has launched its new mascot to promote its work in commercial heating and hot water.
Members of the public were invited to vote to name the character via LinkedIn and an online form. Blaze was chosen from a shortlist of four, beating other suggestions Pilot, Lordy and Bertie the Burner.
The Lord team will use the new character to provide a public face for their work in heating, ventilation and air conditioning. The smiling blue flame will appear across the company’s website, marketing and promotional activity.
Having served customers across the West Midlands since 1982, Lord has built a reputation for sustainability, including winning a leading award in recognition of its work on introducing more environmentally friendly solutions for clients.
In the company’s push to promote more energy efficient systems, which in turn help the environment, Blaze will turn green when promoting sustainability work.
Managing Director Stuart Smith said: “The team at Lord Combustion Services are pleased to welcome our new mascot to the team. Blaze will play an active role in our business by promoting the good work which our teams deliver every day for clients.

The Lord team of nearly 50 staff serve more than 1,000 customers across the West Midlands including NHS sites, schools and Edgbaston cricket ground.
Operating from its base in Dudley Road East, Oldbury, Lord is seen as a leader in its field, having signed up to the West Midlands Net Zero Pledge after being visited by Mayor Andy Street and on the back of winning three awards for its work in 2021, including the Sustainability prize at the West Midlands Business Masters Awards, organised by regional news website Business Desk.
Lord also won the Outstanding Support for the Armed Forces prize at 2023’s Black Country Chamber Business Awards for its work in providing job opportunities for service personnel.
